April 24 - BEREA, Ohio – The Bethany College track and field teams competed in their final tune-up meet before next weekend’s PAC Championships by running at the unscored Baldwin-Wallace Sparky Adams Invitational Saturday. Baldwin-Wallace’s George Finnie Stadium will be the site of the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The Bison’s top place earned Saturday was by senior Jodi Bodo (Steubenville, Ohio/Steubenville Catholic Central). In the 400, she finished second in a field of 26 runners by crossing the finish line with a time of 57.84 seconds, her fastest time of the season and just .32 off her own school record that was set last year. Bodo also ran in the 100 and finished 10th out of 39 in the preliminaries with a time of 13.39.

The other member of BC’s women’s team to run on Saturday was senior Desiree Finley (Nanticoke, Pa./Hanover Area). She earned seventh out of 21 runners in the 400 hurdles by finishing in a time of 1:07.03.

Bethany’s men had three competitors at Baldwin-Wallace Saturday, including one on the track and two in field events. In the running events, senior Taylor McNeil (Old Saybrook, Conn.) ran the fifth-fastest time in the 100 prelims by clocking in 11.42 seconds, which did qualify him for the finals, but McNeil was scratched from the final heat.

The Bethany senior did run in the 200 later in the meet, as his time of 22.89 seconds was good for fifth place out of 49 runners.

For the Bison in the field, sophomore Seth Myers (Valley Grove, W.Va./Wheeling Park) finished in 13th place out of 51 throwers with a best measurement of 129 feet, 11 inches. Senior James Malone (Wellsville Ohio) competed in the javelin, taking 23rd overall with a throw of 134-9.

Bethany’s squads will have this week to prepare for the conference meet next Saturday, which will be held at Grove City.
