April 17 - INDIANA, Pa. – Cold and at times snowy weather during Saturday’s Indiana (Pa.) University’s Ed Fry Open Invitational did not deter the Bethany College track and field teams from turning in more solid performances at the unscored competition.

One Bison took a first place finish, as freshman Nathanial Hensh (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) tied with two others for the top spot in the pole vault by clearing 13-0.

Other high placements for the men came from senior Taylor McNeil (Old Saybrook, Conn.), who earned seventh overall and was the top Division III competitor in the 100 (11.24), junior Danny Farray (Queens, N.Y./Msr. McClancy), who placed seventh in the long jump (19-6) and sophomore Seth Myers (Valley Grove, W.Va./Wheeling Park), who was eighth in the shot put (41-8) and seventh in the discus (132-5).

For the women, Bethany’s top efforts came in the short sprints and distance. Senior Jodi Bodo (Steubenville, Ohio/Steubenville Catholic Central) raced to a second place finish behind only Tiffany Tedesco from Division II Slippery Rock with a time of 26.40. Bodo also took seventh in the 400 and ran on the 4x100 relay with sophomore Kaitlyn Black (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley), junior Kelli McAbier (Gnadenhutten, Ohio/Indian Valley) and senior Rachael Katsur (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) which crossed sixth.

In the distance events, freshman Erin Reske (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) ran to a third place finish with a time of 20:13.71. Also on the track, junior Desiree Finley (Nanticoke, Pa./Hanover Area) was fifth in the 400 hurdles (1:09.85).

Both Bison track teams have a busy week ahead. On Wednesday, they will host a PAC Quad Meet with Geneva, Washington & Jefferson and Waynesburg at Bison Stadium and then on Saturday, they will go to the Baldwin-Wallace Invitational as they continue their preparation for the 2010 PAC Championships May 1 at Grove City.
