April 21 - WEXFORD, Pa. – After a standout performance Saturday at the Indiana (Pa.) University Invitational, Bethany sophomore Clint Wilson (Moundsville, W.Va./Bishop Donahue) was selected as the PAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for April 20.

Wilson qualified for the 2009 ECAC Track & Field Championships in the high jump, as he cleared six feet, six inches to take third place, but first among Division III competitors, at the IUP meet. In addition to blowing past the ECAC qualifying standard (6-2.75), he also came an inch short of the BC record, set by Chris Gardner in 2005.

Saturday was the fourth time Wilson earned third place at a meet this season in high jump, as he also finished third at the PAC South Quad Meet, the Slippery Rock Invitational and the Washington & Jefferson Invitational this spring.

With Wilson qualifying for ECACs, which will be May 14-15 at Springfield (Mass.) College, it marks the sixth consecutive season the Bethany men’s program will be represented at the meet.

“Clint was a really good high jumper coming out of high school,” said Bethany head coach Andy Upton. “His key to getting back to that form is consistency and he’s been showing that over the last month in practice. Clint finally showed his potential Saturday when he cleared 6-6 and just missed 6-8, which would have set a school record.”

A business major, Clint is the son of Mike and Jenny Wilson of Moundsville, W.Va.
