April 7 - DANBURY, Conn. – Bethany College track & field senior standout, Umar Moore (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon) has recently been named the Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South Regional Athlete of the Week, announced the ECAC on Thursday.
A three-time All-American, Moore totaled 22.5 individual points for the Green & White at the Bethany Invitational on Saturday, April 2. The senior was up to his old tricks, capturing first place in both the long jump and the triple jump events.
In a field of 17 athletes in the long jump, Moore captured a first-place mark in his first jump of the day, leaping 22-05.75. The mark proved to be over a foot further than any other competitor in the event.
In the triple, Moore bested a field of seven other competitors, posting a leap of 46-00.50. His distance not only won him the event, but currently ranks 11th in all of Division III as of today. Along with his pair of victories, he also showed off his versatility, helping the 4x100-meter relay team to a first-place finish with an ECAC Qualifying time of 42.15.
Moore is the second Bison men’s athlete in a row to earn ECAC DIII South Regional honors, joining Kyle Minger (Richmond, Ohio/Edison Local), who was given the distinction last week.
