April, 17 - SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Bison track & field program took four athletes to the Slippery Rock University Open on Thursday. The athletes performed well, posting four top-ten finishes on the day.
On the women's side, the Bison took three competitors, including Paige Prato (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes), Kiera Goolsby (Washington, Pa./Washington) and Heather Grinkley (Woodbridge, Va./C.D. Hylton).
Prato had the best day for the Bison, posting two top-ten finishes on the day. In the 100 meter dash, Prato scored a sixth-place finish with a time of 12.48. That time qualified her for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships which will be held on May 15-16. Along with that finish, Prato also notched an eighth-place mark in the 200 meter with a 27.26.
Goolsby also scored a top-ten finish in the 100 meter dash, as she finished eighth, crossing the line with a time of 12.75. She also posted a 12th-place finish in the 200 (27.55). Grinkley totaled two 14th-place finishes in the 100 meter dash (13.14) and the long jump (4.62 meters).
On the men's side, junior Austin Williams (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) was the lone competitor, scoring a seventh-place mark in the 110 meter hurdles (16.16).
The Bison will be back in action on Friday and Saturday, April 25 and 26, when they compete at the PAC Championships hosted by Westminster College.
