Dec. 7 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Presidents’ Athletic Conference has announced that Bethany College indoor track & field standouts, seniors Umar Moore and Maria Jackson-McBride, have been named PAC Athletes of the Week. Moore earned the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honor, while Jackson-McBride was given the nod as the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.
Looking to get back to the NCAA Indoor National Championships for the final time, Moore (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon) started the 2015-16 campaign off on the right foot, making the finals of the long jump in a field of 34 athletes at the Youngstown State Icebreaker. His second jump proved to be his best, posting a jump of 21-8.75, which was good for a seventh-place finish.
Moore is the first athlete in the history of the Bethany College track & field program to become a three-time All-American. The senior was also named both the Field MVP and overall Most Outstanding performer at the 2014 PAC Indoor Championships.
Jackson-McBride (Spotsylvania, Va./West Potomac) earned Athlete of the Week honors after competing in the 200 at the Bison’s first meet. She finished 22nd overall with a final time of 26.80. Jackson-McBride’s performance gave her the 10th-best Division III finish in the 200 this season.
Moore, Jackson-McBride and the rest of the Bison will be back in action on Saturday, January 16 at the Otterbein Invitational at 11:00 a.m.
