Nov. 8 - WEXFORD, Pa. – Bethany College senior Lauren Spegal (Bethel Park, Pa.) was named Second Team All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) by the league coaches when the teams were announced last weekend during the PAC Tournament.

This is the fourth consecutive season Spegal has earned Second Team All-PAC status. The 5-9 outside hitter led BC in nearly every category, including kills with 393, which ranked her third in the PAC. In addition, it was the second highest total ever recorded by a Bison in a single season, behind only Vicki Hill’s 1987 total of 486.

Spegal also had a team-high 49 service aces and her 0.52 average per game was fifth-most in the league. A top-notch all-around player, Spegal posted a team-best 319 digs and was third on the squad with 23 blocks, including 14 solos.

Her stellar senior campaign completed a remarkable career for Spegal as a Bison. She broke the school record for career kills in an Oct. 16 match against Thiel (Pa.) College and finished with 1,289 kills, nearly 100 more than the previous record holder Kelly Sitko (1,197).

In addition to kills, Spegal also finished her career ranked in Bethany’s top 10 in two other categories. She had 132 career aces to place seventh all-time at the school, while also posting 1,013 career digs to finish 10th.

An elementary/special education major, Lauren is the daughter of Mary and Steve Spegal of Bethel Park, Pa.
