Oct. 16 - GREENVILLE, Pa. – For the sixth time this season, the Bethany College volleyball team pushed a match to a fifth set, but unfortunately for the young Bison, they fell to 0-6 in those matches with a 3-2 loss at Thiel Thursday night.

The setback (13-25, 25-12, 25-19, 20-25, 12-15) lowered BC’s record to 4-19 overall and 1-8 in the PAC, while the Tomcats improved to 12-12 and 6-3.

Freshman Courtney Meadows (Canton, Ohio/McKinley) had a big night for the Bison, pounding down 22 kills and bringing up 15 digs. It was the third time this season Meadows went over 20 kills and her third double-double of the year.

Freshman setter Megan Hoffman (Cambridge, Ohio/John Glenn) passed out 39 assists in the defeat, the second-highest total of her first year. A solid night was also turned in by freshman Alyssa Schrecengost (Wexford, Pa./Vincentian) with 10 kills and a pair of service aces.

At the net defensively, senior Sumer Scott (Triadelphia, W.Va./Wheeling Park) totaled five blocks, while freshman Carrie Talkington (Moundsville, W.Va./John Marshall) had four. Freshman Tiffany Hoffman (Cambridge, Ohio/John Glenn) led the team in digs with 29, which tied her career-high set in the Bison’s first match against Thiel back on Sept. 10.

Bethany will return to action on Saturday when they host Chatham. The PAC match, which was originally scheduled for 11 a.m., has been pushed back to 12 p.m.
