Sept. 17- STEUBENVILLE, Ohio- The Bethany College women’s tennis team (0-7) fell, 8-1, to Franciscan (4-2) in a non-conference match on Tuesday afternoon.
Junior Allison Snyder (Newcomerstown, Ohio/Newcomerstown) and freshman Katie Vallone (Rochester, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) started the match out strong for the Bison, as they defeated Caeles Crunkleton-Wilson and Renata Crespo, 9-7, in the number one doubles match.
Snyder was close to notching a win in the number one singles match as she recorded three points in the first set, but fell to Crunkleton-Wilson, 3-6, 2-6 in the number one singles match.
Vallone put forth a great effort in the number four singles match, as she scored four points in the first set, but fell to Claire Haddad 4-6, 0-6.
Head coach Ashley Marinucci had this to say about her team after its match against Franciscan, “I’m happy with the way the girls are playing. As the season goes on, the team has started to play as one. Although our scores aren’t showing it, we are seeing improvements and I am anxious to see how the second half of the season turns out”.
Bethany retuns to action on Monday, September 23, when it travels to Washington and Jefferson for a Presidents’ Athletic Conference match at 3:30 p.m.
