BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College Assistant Professor of Economics Aaron M. Honsowetz is starting the Online Economic History Workshop with Christopher Newport University Assistant Professor of American Studies Frank Garmon.

The inaugural workshop is July 28-29. The workshop will livestream on YouTube and the workshop’s website. The theme of the inaugural workshop is Responding to Crisis.

“I want to help keep research in Economic History moving forward by starting an annual conference built to be online,” Professor Honsowetz said. “With various travel restrictions placed on researchers, many traditional conferences and workshops where researchers get feedback on their work are either canceled, delayed, or trying to temporarily transition to being online.”

The Online Economic History Workshop is an opportunity for anyone to see people working on the cutting edge of Economic History. A single panel is livestreamed each day starting at noon Eastern time. The theme of July 28 is Responding to Crisis and July 29 is Labor Markets in Crisis.

Questions can be sent to the presenters during the panel on Twitter using the hashtag #OEHW2020.
