BETHANY, W.Va. — Bethany College is thrilled to announce the appointment of Xavier Thomas as the esport coach and director of student activities and Greek life. With his enthusiasm, leadership qualities, and extensive background in esports, Thomas will play a crucial role in the development and success of the newly introduced esport gaming management (ESPT) minor at Bethany College.

The introduction of the ESPT minor marks an exciting milestone in Bethany College’s academic landscape. As the esports industry continues to experience exponential growth, Bethany College recognizes the importance of providing students with modern and technology-focused educational opportunities. The ESPT minor will equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in this dynamic industry.

“Thomas’s appointment as the esport coach reflects our commitment to providing our students with exceptional resources, connections, and opportunities,” says Bethany College President Dr. Jamie Caridi. “His expertise and passion for esports will greatly enhance our students’ experience and further strengthen our academic programs.”

Thomas brings a wealth of experience and skills to his new role. He recently completed his master’s in business administration at Wheeling University and holds a bachelor’s in business and criminal justice from WU.

“The addition of the esport minor presents new and exciting career paths for our students,” says Dr. Anju Ramjee, provost and dean of faculty. “By combining the ESPT minor with majors such as business, computer science, marketing, and management, and our new esport club, our students will be well-equipped to pursue careers in various fields of the esport industry.”

Thomas has expertise in esport tournaments for Halo, Call of Duty, Modern Warfare, Overwatch, NBA 2K, and Madden. As for his role as director of student activities and Greek life, he says he plans to bring great experiences to the campus, along with lifelong memories and a well-known, recognizable culture.

“I am very thrilled to start a new tradition here at Bethany College,” says Thomas. “I would like to thank President Dr. Jamie Caridi, and Dean of Student Life Gerald Stebbins for this opportunity. I am also grateful to the community here at Bethany College, including its members, for entrusting me with this valuable opportunity. Esports is expanding and continue to grow at the collegiate level. I am excited to see the future for Esports here at Bethany College, as well as student and Greek life.”

With the help of Thomas, Bethany College is poised to become a hub for esports education and innovation. The College is dedicated to providing its students with a forward-thinking and technologically driven academic experience that prepares them for successful careers in the evolving business landscape.
