BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College is rolling out confirmed enrollment numbers for the 2022-2023 academic year—and is excited to announce a 12 percent overall student enrollment increase, and an 11 percent new student enrollment increase. Envisioning a better tomorrow, Bethany is striving to meet bigger goals through their three-year strategic plan, ‘Build for a Lifetime.’
“This constitutes an important first milestone in our recently approved strategic plan, which emphasizes growing enrollment by developing highly relevant academic programs that meet the needs of the region,” says Bethany President Dr. Jamie Caridi. “At a time when many institutions are experiencing enrollment challenges, we are grateful to be bucking the trend and pleased that prospective students and their families are increasingly attracted to the extraordinary value and high-quality academic experience offered here at Bethany.”
This fall, Bethany College is welcoming its largest student population since 2016. For this, Dr. Caridi applauds the faculty and staff, particularly the admissions team and the athletic department. He says they not only met but exceeded recruitment expectations. Thanks to their efforts, Bethany College is proud to announce the enrollment of 169 student-athletes.
“Prospective students and families today have countless choices in selecting a college,” says Dr. Caridi. “And while many factors enter into that choice, the relationship an institution takes the time to develop with an individual family is essential. That’s where our admissions staff and recruiters soar.”
“I am really proud of our staff for their work with this year’s recruiting class. There is a lot of time and energy that goes into recruiting just one single student-athlete,” says Director of Athletics Brian Sansom. “So, when you look at specific coaches and programs who brought in big classes of quality student-athletes that will be future Bethany graduates, it’s truly impressive. Our success would not have been possible without the help of our enrollment staff and the rest of the campus community who we work closely with during the recruiting process.”
Bethany is also citing a substantial international enrollment increase of 47 percent since last year. Currently, Bethany is home to 68 international students, including two graduate students, from 19 countries.
According to Bethany’s strategic plan, this is a deliberate effort to increase enrollment at the college over the next three years. Dr. Caridi is hopeful Bethany’s new academic programs and agreements such as the Brooke Collegiate Academy and the M.B.A. 4+1 programs, will help to drive that number.
