Edward F. Shephard

I began my career at Bethany College in 2011. I came to Bethany after serving as an Assistant Professor at East Tennessee State University. I currently reside in Indiana, Pa.

I became interested in teacher preparation while obtaining my teacher certification at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Therefore, I enrolled and graduated from the doctoral program at IUP in 2007.

Areas of Passion & Research
Areas of research include, but are not limited to, teacher preparation, recruitment and retention of highly qualified teachers in urban and rural settings, school law, and social studies education.

Personal Interests
My personal interests include anything related to U.S. and World History.

Favorite Quote, Book, or Movie
My favorite book is “The Johnstown Flood” by David McCullough. I picked this book due to my interest in history and my proximity to the areas impacted by the Johnstown Flood.
