BETHANY, W.Va. – Salvatore Marranca, a 1968 Bethany graduate and Chairman of the Board for Cattaraugus County Bank in Little Valley, New York, attended a gathering at the White House for the Independent Community Bankers Association on Monday, May 1.
More than 100 members of the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA), which represents more than 5,000 independent community banks throughout the country, gathered in the White House garden to hear remarks from President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, and Secretary of Economic Affairs, among others, about the role community bankers’ play in America today.
Salvatore noted that “nothing like this has ever happened before,” allowing for new grounds to be broken within the banking industry as overregulation and tax reform were topics of discussion. Salvatore expressed that the afternoon brought on positive attention to the Independent Community Bankers of America, as well as community banking.
As the former Senior Bank Examiner of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Marranca had more than 40 years’ experience in the banking industry. He also served as the former Chairman of the ICBA. In addition, he served two years in the U.S. Army holding the rank of Specialist 5th Class, and completed an eleven month tour of duty in Vietnam.
In 1982, he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the Cattaraugus County Bank (CCB). The next year he was elected to the Board of Directors. In 2011, he was elected President and CEO of C.C. Bancorp Company. After his retirement in 2015, he has served as the Chairman of the Board for Cattaraugus County Bank.
In 2016, Marranca was awarded the Alumni Achievement Award, which recognizes Bethany alumni for achievements and contributions to their profession or field. He was also inducted into the Bethany Football Hall of Fame.
