BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College and West Liberty University are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish Dual Enrollment Programs in teacher education and nursing. This strategic partnership will enhance educational opportunities for students of both institutions.

The MOU, signed on June 27, solidifies the commitment of West Liberty University and Bethany College to provide a seamless educational pathway for academically qualified Bethany College students. Upon successful completion of all course requirements for Bethany’s interdisciplinary studies program, students will seamlessly enter into either West Liberty University’s teacher education program or nursing program.

Qualified students will be awarded an interdisciplinary study degree from Bethany College and a degree in nursing or Elementary Education from West Liberty University. Both institutions will recognize and credit the coursework completed at the partner institution towards the granting of these degrees.

In addition, upon completion of the Dual Enrollment Program, students pursuing nursing will be qualified to sit for the NCLEX examination, while students pursuing an elementary education degree will be qualified to sit for the PRAXIS 2 examination.

Bethany President Dr. Jamie Caridi expressed enthusiasm for this collaboration, saying “this partnership marks a significant step forward in our commitment to providing robust educational opportunities for our students. By combining the strengths and resources of Bethany College and West Liberty University, we can offer an enhanced educational experience and prepare our students for successful careers in the fields of teacher education and nursing. I am very grateful for the leadership of President Monteroso and the collaboration of her entire team as we work together in meeting the needs of students and our community.”

West Liberty University Interim President Cathy Monteroso says, “We are proud to unveil this transformative collaboration. By combining the expertise and resources of both institutions, we are breaking barriers and creating a pathway for students to excel in careers that are essential to our society like education and nursing.”

An essential and key element of this partnership is that it will not only provide students with a seamless academic journey but also allow them to participate in NCAA Division III athletics for Bethany College while enrolled at West Liberty University.

Bethany College and West Liberty University are excited about the potential of this partnership and the opportunities it will create for its students. By combining their strengths and resources, the institutions aim to foster excellence in education and prepare future professionals in the fields of teacher education and nursing.
