BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College is announcing the promotion of Kathy Burd to the position of vice president of human resources. In her previous role as the director of human resources, Burd demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and a results-oriented approach, making her the ideal candidate for this promotion.

“Kathy’s dedication, strategic mindset, and proven track record in advancing our human resource functions make her an invaluable asset to our leadership team,” says Bethany President Dr. Jamie Caridi. “As we continue to grow and evolve, Kathy’s leadership will play a crucial role in shaping our organizational culture and ensuring the success of our workforce.” 

Burd brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role. With a bachelor’s degree in human ecology from Seton Hill College and a master’s degree in human resource management from St. Francis University, she has a strong educational foundation in understanding the needs of small, private colleges. Her professional journey includes various key roles where she has effectively managed human resource functions and contributed significantly to organizational success.  

Burd’s comprehensive experience also extends to her time at Ferro Corporation, where she served as human resource supervisor for a 230-employee worksite. Her achievements include driving recruitment and career development efforts, partnering with compensation management for all level positions, and administering compensation and performance management processes according to company and budgetary objectives. 

Reflecting on her promotion, Burd expressed her eagerness, saying “It is with great enthusiasm that I join the creative energy of our leadership team. Collaborating with our campus community on the Build for Lifetime strategic mission will strengthen the future for all Bethanians.” 

As vice president of human resources, Burd will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the College’s mission, fostering positive workplace culture, and contributing to the overall success and growth of Bethany.
