[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]BETHANY, W.Va. – Celebrating its 182nd anniversary this week, Bethany College is taking a bold step toward solidifying its future in a changing higher education landscape with the announcement of Build for a Lifetime: A Three-Year Strategic Plan.

Build for a Lifetime, unveiled this week in a pair of town halls with faculty, staff and more than 200 alumni, showcases an aspiring vision that calls us to:

  • Believe in Bethany and think boldly.
  • Unlock a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Invest in the Bethanian student experience.
  • Listen to our stakeholders and forge partnerships.
  • Drive philanthropy and enrollment growth for Bethany’s financial future.

“Bethany must and will commit to a bold vision for the future and a culture of operational excellence that is grounded in the college’s traditions of liberal arts and sciences,” said Ken Bado, chair of the Bethany College Board of Trustees. “That is exactly what Build for a Lifetime does. We don’t have a minute to waste. Our mission is urgent. There is a lot of work to be done to successfully implement this exciting vision, and I invite each of you to join us on this important journey.”

The plan is a culmination of a year-long evaluation that included discussions with more than 400 stakeholders about how they see a Bethany College education.

A working group of 22 members of the campus community included faculty, trustees, cabinet, staff and an outside facilitator. The plan focuses on academics, the student experience, financial strength, infrastructure and strategic partnerships.

“Bethany College’s Build for a Lifetime Plan isn’t about any one individual,” Bethany Interim President Jamie Caridi said. “It’s about an enduring mission, a courageous vision, and a commitment to ‘meet the moment’ to improve the lives of our students and our region. We are very encouraged by the enthusiastic reception of the plan, and look forward to collaborating with our devoted alumni and community leaders to achieve its ambitious goals.”

The complete strategic plan is available here.
