He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Alma College in Michigan, and the M.A. and Ph.D. from Kent State University in Ohio.
Throughout his 40-year career at Bethany, Dr. Hull has received a number of Bethany College recognitions for outstanding teaching and his contributions to the Bethany Community. Abbott Award for Faculty Excellence from the Higher Education and Leadership Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Dr. Hull has authored or co-authored 124 professional paper presentations or posters and numerous other journal articles, book chapters and text books. Most of his research in recent years has been in social psychology, focused on gender stereotypes in children’s toys and books, sexual assault awareness and prevention, body image, sports superstitions and rituals and teaching.
The finalists and recipient of the 2015 Professor of the Year will be announced at a banquet in Charleston on March 30, 2016. The Professor of the Year will receive a $10,000 award.
The Faculty Merit Foundation was created in 1984 to provide a means to recognize and reward innovation and creativity among the faculties of West Virginia’s public and private colleges and universities. Through the Professor of the Year program, the outstanding achievements of those individuals are brought to the attention of the general public.
Nominations for this prestigious award must include comprehensive and specific information about each nominee. The Foundation board selects Professor of the Year finalists based on the written information presented and on interviews with candidates.
