David DeIuliis

Associate Professor

David DeIuliis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communications and Media Arts at Bethany College.

David earned his B.A. in Journalism and M.A. in Media Studies from Penn State University and Ph.D. in Rhetoric from Duquesne University, where he was the recipient of the 2015 Wilhelm Wurzer Award for Excellence in Scholarship and 2016 Graduate Student Award for Excellence in Scholarship.

He has edited the Pennsylvania Communication Annual and currently serves as Reviews Editor of the Journal of Communication and Religion. His work has appeared in leading journals in the field of communication studies as wells as several edited volumes in the areas of communication theory and cultural studies.

The study of communication as an academic discipline is relatively new but the practice of communication is as old as human civilization, since civilization can only come to be through communication.

Areas of Passion & Research
David’s recent research focuses on intersections of the philosophical and rhetorical traditions in the work of Marcel Proust and other psychological novelists.

In his spare time David is a portrait artist and avid birdwatcher.
