Five Added to Bethany College Communications and Media Arts Wall of Fame

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]BETHANY, WV – Five alumni from the fields of communications, broadcast, TV production, journalism, and public relations were added to the Bethany College Communications and Media Arts Wall of Fame on Sept. 28.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]Sue Sniegocki Booth ’82 is the Executive Communications Lead at Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems, where she creates and executes strategic communications designed to engage employees in their leadership’s business priories and global growth strategy. During Booth’s time at Raytheon, her expertise and critical-thinking has won numerous awards, including the CEB (Gartner) Communications Award and seven Gold Quill Awards for internal communications and employee engagement.

Before Raytheon, she consulted with the company as a communications director and acted as marketing director for General Growth. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pa., Booth graduated from Bethany College with a BA in Communications.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]Bill Burr ‘91 is an Emmy-nominated news anchor who breaks critical news to his viewers as a senior reporter and fill-in news anchor for WCIV-TV in Charleston, S.C. Burr has a long history of news reporting and being an anchor at various TV stations.

His passion and love for broadcast journalism developed at Bethany College, where he was an anchor, reporter, producer, and photographer for the station.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]William C. “Bill” Hoop ‘68 will be remembered as an accomplished journalist, public relations consultant, and communications executive whose distinguished professional career spanned nearly half a century. For over 22 years, Hoop worked for Fidelity Investments and eventually rose to become Senior Vice President and Head of the mutual fund company’s editorial services group.

Prior, Hoop worked for Hill & Knowlton/Boston as Vice President and started his career in daily journalism.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]Dan Lohmann ’98 is a founding member of Pikewood Creative, a multi-Emmy award-winning production company. He is Director, Producer, and Editor of the 92-minute “Hot Rod” documentary. Additionally, he has worked five Olympic Games, produced numerous live games, and more.

Lohmann was a member of the NCAA national championship soccer team at Bethany College and went on to receive his MS in Sports Management from West Virginia University.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]David McDonnell ‘78 is a retired entertainment journalist who found a way to combine his passion for science fiction and writing to launch a successful career. After starting out as a writer for Mediascene Prevue, he became Editor of Starlog Magazine, a pioneering publication devoted to science fiction and fantasy, for 27 years.

Simultaneously, McDonnell served as Editor of Fangoria, Comics Scene, Fantasy Worlds, Action Heroes, and other sister publications. He also edited numerous licensed magazines and appeared as a guest speaker at over 200 pop culture conventions.

McDonnell earned a Golden Mike Award at Bethany’s college radio station, WVBC. After graduating from Bethany, he attended Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications where he earned an MA in advertising.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]Bethany’s Communications and Media Arts Wall of Fame was established in October 2010 to honor distinguished communications graduates. It includes 38 acclaimed graduates, including current national sportscaster Dave Sims and prior news anchors, Toria Talley, of CNN, and Faith Daniels, of CBS Morning News.

Bethany’s Department of Communications and Media Arts has had a storied reputation of producing graduates of national and international significance.
